Foodie Alert! New Restaurants to Look for in Greenville & Spartanburg

It’s no secret that the Upstate is full of great eats. As our reputation of being a “foodie city” grows, so does the list of new restaurants that are opening. Whatever your tastebuds are craving, this week may be the time to branch out from your regular spots, and find a new favorite.

Here’s the list of new places that are coming, or have recently opened in Greenville and Spartanburg.

RJ Rockers and the HenHouse Join Forces to Create Brunch Options at the Silo

Spartanburg’s RJ Rockers is joining forces with the owners of HenHouse Brunch in downtown Spartanburg. HenHouse has become a brunch staple in Spartanburg – but they will soon close their doors downtown, and combine efforts with RJ Rocker’s concept of The Silo. The Silo will be a double threat, offering beer from the brewery and delicious food!

The Owners of Sidewall Pizza are Adding BBQ to Their Resume

The owners of the Greenville / TR staples Sidewall Pizza and Rocket Surgery are combining their expertise to open a new BBQ restaurant – Monkey Wrench. Monkey Wrench will not only feature your classic BBQ staples (think pulled pork and brisket), but also unique meat (or meatless) selections to try (think lamb and jackfruit). The highly anticipated restaurant is hoping to open in February.

Seedlings, the Children’s Museum’s Farm-to-Table Restaurant is Open

The newest farm to table restaurant is all about the kiddos! You read that right – forget the kids menu of frozen chicken fingers and fries. Seedlings, a brainchild of Jonathan Willis – the owner of Farm Fresh Fast, is seeking to redefine “kid food”. With locally sourced ingredients, and healthy, whole foods with a kid-friendly twist, Seedlings is sure to please the parents and the kiddos. Stop by The Children’s Museum of the Upstate to give it a try!

Rocky Moo is Open for Business & Ice Cream Sandwiches

Rocky Moo is finally open for business & serving custom ice cream sandwiches to Spartanburg locals. Since the opening, the store has been packed with happy ice cream lovers. Customers can create their own ice cream sandwiches from a selection of cookies and brownies…and over 10 ice cream flavors!

Otto Izakaya Brings Sushi to the West End in Their New Location

Peter Lieu is known for his expertise in Asian Fusion. With Lieu’s Chinese Bistro on Woodruff, and OTTO Izakaya on Market Point, he has been hoping for a long time to make his food available in the downtown Greenville area. Finally, the right opportunity presented itself for Lieu to land a restaurant in the West End – the space where Breakwater used to be. Now locals are raving over the incredibly fresh sushi, noodle dishes, and drinks.

Greenville Zoo’s Autumn the Giraffe Gives Birth

Autumn the Giraffe gave birth to another baby Wednesday January 31. The baby was born just before noon and the birth was streamed by the Zoo’s webcam & watched by many. This is Autumn’s 4th pregnancy.
