Lowes Foods announces third store location in Greenville market
Lowes Foods, a Carolinas-based grocer, said it would add a third store in the Greenville market, with the new location at Pelham and Boiling Springs roads. The store at 2702 Pelham Road will open in spring 2018, company officials said. Lowes Foods opened its first Greenville market store in Greer on Sept. 23 and is building a second store in Simpsonville in the Village Market-East shopping center on the northwest corner of Woodruff Road and Sunnydale Drive in the Five Forks area. The Simpsonville store is anticipated to open in spring 2017.
With the coming of the Grand Bohemian hotel, a new entryway to downtown emerges
The view from Reedy River Falls is about to change. Wyche P.A., the law firm that overlooks the river, has agreed to sell its East Camperdown Way property to Orlando, Fla.-based The Kessler Collection, and a new hotel, the Grand Bohemian Greenville, will take its place.
Piedmont Natural Gas issues annual winter forecast; predicts colder weather, higher bills
Charlotte-based Piedmont Natural Gas, a subsidiary of Duke Energy, said the upcoming winter is likely to be significantly colder than last year. The forecast covers the period from November through March and applies to residential customers in Piedmont’s three-state service area of North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee. Last year’s winter was approximately 20 percent warmer than normal throughout the company’s service area, Piedmont officials said. Colder weather typically increases the amount of natural gas that a residential customer consumes.
Furman University named top green college by Princeton Review
Furman University is one of the most environmentally responsible colleges in the U.S., according to The Princeton Review. The New York-based education services company has listed the university among the “Top 50 Green Colleges” in its free downloadable book, “Guide to 361 Green Colleges.” “We strongly recommend Furman University and the other fine colleges in this guide to the many environmentally minded students who seek to study and live at green colleges,” said Robert Franek, senior vice president and publisher of The Princeton Review.

Greenville Open Studios is coming up Nov. 4-6 and we’re excited to get a window into the lives of local artists by going into their spaces and seeing them at work. Open Studios give you the opportunity to see a large portion of the artists that Greenville has to offer at one time. Whether you’re accustomed to swirling wine and discussing abstracts or just appreciating pretty colors, there is art for everyone to enjoy. This year’s Open Studios feature 131 artists and consists of a self-guided tour of art studios in Greenville, Easley, Greer, Travelers Rest and Dacusville.
