FIRST LOOK: Biscuit Head
Are you ready to take your brunch game to the next level? Asheville, N.C., natives Jason and Carolyn Roy plan to open Biscuit Head as early as this week. The space is at the intersection of University Ridge and South Church Street, below the South Ridge Apartments. This is the third location the pair has opened since their first location opened in 2013.
Harris Teeter, NorthPointe on track for summer 2018
The transformation of another key gateway into downtown Greenville is now on a smooth track after the City Council gave its initial blessing to the NorthPointe development, which will bring a mix of apartments, restaurants and a new upscale Harris Teeter grocery store. This week’s vote also brings into clearer view the expected completion date — middle of 2018.
Caviar & Bananas sets Aug. 5 opening
Caviar & Bananas, a gourmet market and café currently under construction on Laurens Street at ONE City Plaza next to the Aloft Hotel, announced this week it will be opening on Aug. 5. The 4,700-square-foot space will have an outdoor seating area and will be open seven days a week for breakfast, lunch, dinner and weekend brunch. This is the first Caviar & Bananas location that co-founders and owners Kris and Margaret Furniss will open outside of the Charleston market.
Fashion retailer H&M plans to add new store at WestGate Mall
H&M plans to build its fourth South Carolina store in Spartanburg. Site plans filed with the city showed the store will occupy more than 21,000 square feet near the food court in WestGate Mall. The space includes a row of vacant storefronts across from American Eagle Outfitters between Sbarro and the Verizon store, as well as a space near the entrance at the food court.
Barista Alley bringing coffee to downtown Greer
Greer resident Andrew Carter is a self-described caffeine addict obsessed with crafting the perfect cup of coffee. Carter, 21, has bounced from job to job since graduating high school in 2012. He began crafting custom wood and iron designs at The Heirloom Company in 2013. Then he became a product specialist at Greenville’s BMW in 2015. But coffee was his passion. “I had thought about opening a restaurant for the longest time, but it just didn’t happen,” said Carter. “But then I thought about coffee, and about how it’s always been a big thing in my family. So I just decided to go for it.”
