Greenville lands on MONEY magazine ‘Great Places’ list
Greenville may soon see an influx of visitors on a budget. That’s because MONEY Magazine named Greenville to its ’12 Great Places to Go in 2017 – and How to Do Them on a Budget’ list. The list goes beyond typical visitor lists to name specifics things to do on a budget. It includes several U.S. destinations, including Hawaii’s big island and Sonoma, CA. As for Greenville, it bills the trip as a visit to small town life, suggesting visitors take a stroll down Main Street and enjoy architectural details.
S word in the forecast Friday (snow!)
The S word is in the forecast: Snow. Greer-based National Weather Service meteorologist Danny Gant said forecasts developed Tuesday afternoon call for anywhere from trace amounts of snow to 3-4 inches for Anderson and surrounding counties starting late Friday and going into Saturday. Officials will have a better idea Wednesday and Thursday of where and how much of the white stuff can be expected, Gant said.
Greenville Business Magazine Announces the 2016 Parker Poe 50 Most Influential People
Greenville Business Magazine marks two decades of honoring the region’s most influential people in this issue. The selection of 50 people is a result of staff research and community nominations. This is the third year that they have selected entrants for their hall of fame. They have selected a group of notables who have long records of accomplishment and have consistently meet the criteria to be included in the list through the years.
Greenville’s (Jī-rōz) opens Wednesday
Another piece of Greenville’s food landscape is coming to fruition this week. (Jī-rōz), the “cool, hip, Greek joint,” from John Makkas opens Wednesday at Main & Stone. The restaurant is the second at the mixed use development – Two Chefs Cafe & Market opened in August. (Jī-rōz) is a mix of authenticity and tradition and what is best described as modern. From menu to restaurant space, it offers a laidback, but fresh dining experience, with a nod to Greece.
Proterra will use $140 million cash infusion to triple production in Greenville
Proterra, the manufacturer of battery-powered buses with a factory in Greenville, said it has raised another $140 million from investors and will use the money to accelerate manufacturing, including a 300 percent increase in its local production. Proterra said it would use the cash infusion to dramatically accelerate manufacturing, boosting production in Greenville by 300 percent and launching a previously announced factory in Los Angeles County, Calif.
