Council gives initial approval to buy Reedy River site
Greenville City Council on Monday night gave initial approval to a contract for the city to purchase property on the banks of the Reedy River at the edge of Falls Park where a developer had proposed to build an office building. The city will buy 0.93 acres along the river for $4 million and help pay for infrastructure improvements made by Centennial American Properties in connection with the Camperdown redevelopment of the block of South Main Street where the Greenville News has made its home since 1969.
Famous Toastery to open July 21
Greenville’s first location of the North Carolina-based franchise opens in the former Two Chefs Delicatessen and Market location at 104 S. Main St. in the Poinsett Plaza building. The North Carolina-based chain that began in Huntersville in 2005 has grown to more than 20 locations on the East Coast with many more in the works. Cindy Stone says if this venture goes well, she hopes to open more locations in Greenville.
Clean Eatz franchise to open in former Local Taco location at Pelham 85
The Wilmington, N.C.-based healthy food franchise plans to open by the second week of August in the 2,450-square-foot space, joining Chicken Salad Chick, Taziki’s, The Lost Cajun, and Bacon Bros. Public House, among other restaurants and retail — including the Coldwell Banker Caine Pelham Real Estate Gallery. The restaurant offers a variety of health-conscious options including build your own bowls, build your own burgers, flatbreads, salads, meal plans, protein smoothies, grab n go meals, and more.
Honeywell to invest $10M in Greer’s aerospace facility
Honeywell plans to invest more than $10 million and create at least 30 jobs at its aerospace facility in Greer over the next five years. On Tuesday, the company announced its plans to add up to 5,000 square feet of manufacturing space to the facility, which is located on South Buncombe Road. The newly announced expansion, which begins later this year, has an estimated completion date of 2019. It will create about 30 skilled high-tech jobs.
New Groove Artisan Brewery opening Saturday in Spartanburg County
A new brewery will open in Spartanburg County on Saturday, July 15. Josh Dodson, Jonathan Duke, and Jeff Clark will celebrate the grand opening of their New Groove Artisan Brewery located in a 4,100-square-foot space at 4078 Highway 9 beside the Wal-Mart Supercenter in Boiling Springs.
