Home Tip Of The Week: Boost Your Home’s Curb Appeal

Do you have spring fever? Get outside and tackle a few of these easy projects to drastically improve the curb appeal of your home.

Wash
The first step is simple: clean it! Wash your windows (inside and out). Use soap and water to scrub your front door, garage, and siding. Then, get out the pressure washer and reveal the true color of your walkways and driveways.

Paint
If you’re not up to doing the whole house, just the front door can have a huge impact. It’s also where you can add a pop of color to make your home really stand out. Depending on the condition of your porch, you may want to paint or stain it, too. Add drama to steps by painting or staining the tops in contrasting colors with the sides and backs.

Plant
Plant trees. Add flower beds around trees for more color. Use mulch to fill in your flower beds. Create a garden around your mailbox. Don’t leave your porch empty. Add layers of plants for dimension. Consider hanging planters, vertical planters, or making your own! Go the extra mile by adding window boxes or an arbor.

Welcome
Give your mailbox a makeover. Install new house numbers. Add lighting to walkways. Upgrade your welcome mat. Replace the hardware on your front door or spray paint existing hardware.

Cover Eyesores
Add a lattice or plants around your air conditioning unit to disguise it, but keep in mind you will need to leave room to access the unit for service. Camouflage electrical boxes by painting them to match your home.
