27 Jun Celebrate the 4th of July at these Upstate Events
As the end of June draws near, we look forward to celebrating the anniversary of our nation’s independence on the 4th of July. There’s nothing quite as American as spending the day off at a picnic, concert, barbecue, or festival. Don’t forget to look to the sky for the grand finale – a fireworks show!
Have you ever wondered why fireworks have become synonymous with Independence Day? It started with John Adams. In a letter to Abigail Adams on July 3, 1776, he wrote that the occasion should be commemorated “with Pomp and Parade, with Shews, Games, Sports, Guns, Bells, Bonfires and Illuminations from one End of this Continent to the other from this Time forward forever more.”
There are plenty of events around the Upstate where you can enjoy the all-American tradition of fireworks as well as live music, food, and more!
