Your Local Gift Guide to Holiday Shopping

Holiday season is in full swing, which means holiday shopping is too! Stressed about finding the perfect gift to take to your gift exchange? Don’t know what to get dad this year? Give back to local stores and vendors by shopping local. Not only does it benefit the community, but you’ll be able to find gifts that are more unique and special than the ones in your online shopping cart. We’ve rounded up a few local gift guides to help get you started.

Downtown BB&T Building to be Transformed into Apartments

The BB&T tower in downtown Greenville has been standing since the 1970s, but Developer Dan Doyle is ready to bring new life to the building by transforming it into apartments. The building sits across from the Heritage Green campus, which includes the Children’s Museum of the Upstate, Greenville County Museum of Art and Greenville Little Theatre. The plan also includes transforming the parking spaces across the street into houses, apartments and townhomes, with the potential of building a mixed-use retail space on the corner of Buncombe and College.

New Village of West Greenville Cuisine

The Village of West Greenville continues to grow – especially when it comes to the food scene. Recently, Kuka Juice opened a new location at 580 Perry Avenue. The cold-pressed juice bar strives to obtain the majority of their fruits and vegetables from local farms. With their focus on health and local organic produce, they hope to promote a healthy lifestyle for the individual and the community.

Additionally, Neo Burrito is scheduled to open in the Village within the next few weeks. Recently putting up their sign, you can find the in-progress space at 1268 Pendleton St. The Asheville-based burrito joint has a focus on sustainability. Not only will they dish out delicious food, but they will do so with the focus of reducing waste.

Holiday Party Brings Joy to Children Fighting Cancer and Their Families

Pictures with Santa Claus, cookie decorating, and horse carriage rides were just a few of the fun activities at the Children’s Cancer Partners of the Carolinas’ Christmas Spectacular event. The evening celebration was hosted at the Spartanburg Marriott, providing a much-needed fun respite for families with children facing cancer. On top of facilitating fun events, the Children’s Cancer Partners of the Carolinas works hard to offer financial assistance for families needing to travel for treatment facilities. With over 600 children with cancer diagnoses in the Carolinas each year, the organization works hard to help each family have access to care.
