Greenville Works to Become “Smart City”

Picture Tomorrowland…self-driving cars, interactive crosswalks, and advanced technology that creates a safer and more advanced city culture. These ergonomic initiatives may not be as far in the future as you think. Greenville’s South Carolina Technology and Aviation Center has begun making plans to create a hub of tech companies that work to develop and design “smart cities”. The project will be housed on a 243-acre tech park, which will focus on designing and developing smart city technology in a collaborative environment.

Spartanburg Welcomes New Meat Market

Upstate meat lovers will be thrilled to know that a new meat market has come to Spartanburg. Brown’s Meat Market has a focus on providing customers with a variety of quality meats paired with outstanding customer service. The Brown family has a strong connection to the community and looks forward to connecting with and serving the locals. New and Improved Saskatoon Lodge, Event Space & Restaurants Opens

Saskatoon Lodge has now opened with new gardens on a 9-acre property. The successful event center will now be able to host more people and events. The 2.5 million renovation has the same rustic décor as the previous location, but on an even grander scale. Saskatoon will also be offering a paleo prepared meal service. The popular destination looks forward to more room to host events, and a focus on farm to table cuisine.

Happy Hooves Serves Special Needs Children and At-Risk Youth

Happy Hooves is a nonprofit offering therapeutic riding and equine therapy for individuals with special needs and at-risk youth. This program is the only one of its kind in the Upstate. Many children have benefited from their time at Eden farms. Happy Hooves believes that riding horses provides an opportunity to teach life skills like trust, respect, and communication…all the while having fun.

Pickens County Humane Society Experiences “Christmas Miracle”

The Pickens County Humane Society received a “Christmas miracle” this past week. Due to a lack of funding, they were going to be forced to close their doors before the end of the year. However, thanks to an online Go Fund Me Campaign that went viral, they raised the $70,000 needed to stay open. Shelter manager, Megan Brown, shares that the campaign wen worldwide, and people from all over felt the need to help. The Humane society hopes to continue to receive funding to have a strong 2018 and beyond.
