For about 40 years, the Christmas decorations at the historic Drayton Mill in Spartanburg County were an annual tradition. But when the mill went dark in 1994 after 92 years of continuous operation, so too did the holiday lights.

Four cyclists are recovering after being hit by a driver on Christmas Eve in Spartanburg County. A man in Greenwood County is still hoping law-enforcement officers locate a hit-and-run driver after his bike was destroyed in an accident. In Greenville, Robin Bylenga, owner of Pedal Chic downtown, is hoping for more awareness on the road.
Swamp Rabbit Cafe to launch butchery in 2017
The owners of Swamp Rabbit Cafe and Grocery have announced plans to open a butchery operation in the New Year. The new venture is the result of a USDA Local Food Promotion grant. This is the same grant the local food operation received last year, which helped it significantly expand its grocery store earlier this year.
Virginia firm acquires Liberty Square towers in downtown Greenville
Richmond-based Lingerfelt CommonWealth Partners LLC made the purchase official last week. The Liberty Square Towers, located at 55 and 77 Beattie Place, total 445,612 square feet and are 81 percent occupied. Commonwealth Commercial Partners, the company’s property management affiliate, will handle all aspects of the day-to-day asset and property management. CBRE will continue to handle the leasing and marketing.
