Frank B. Halter, 83, of Greenville passed away on Tuesday, January 29, 2013.

Born in Atlanta, GA, Frank is a graduate from the University of Georgia in 1951.  Frank was the Chairman of Caine Company and has served in and run the business for the past 60 years.  Under his leadership Caine Company grew from one office and 12 associates to 8 offices and over 200 employees and associates.  Prior to Caine Company, Frank began his career by volunteering for the United States Air Force as an Intelligence Officer and served in Korea as a Captain.

Frank’s accomplishments in the business community are well known and include numerous development projects in both commercial and residential real estate from Greenville to Myrtle Beach, SC.

Frank tirelessly gave his life to service and our community.  He served on the board and in numerous leadership positions for the following organizations: Greenville Hospital System, United Way of Greenville, YMCA, Greenville Chapter of the American Red Cross, Blue Ridge Council of Boy Scouts, Christ Episcopal Church and School, Peace Center for the Performing Arts and Furman University.  He was also recognized as the entrepreneur of the year by Greenville Tech’s Entrepreneurial Forum and received the March of Dimes Real Estate Award in 2004.

Frank was awarded the Order of the Palmetto in 2010 by Governor Mark Sanford. This is the highest civilian honor bestowed by the State of South Carolina for contributions to local and state communities.

A memorial service will be held at 3:00 pm at Christ Church, Greenville, SC on Thursday, January 31.
