Q: Explain the process you go through for your work. What draws you to 1the mediums you choose?

I work from the intuitive.  A lot of my paintings ‘feel’ like a landscape or a moment.  I like acrylic paints because they dry fast, and I like to work very fast.

Q: What peaked your interest in art?

I have always enjoyed the escape art provided.  I also grew up with a lot of artists in my family, so art making was a very natural thing for me.

Q: How would you describe your style of art?

Abstract expressionist

Q: Where do you gather most of the inspiration for your work?

Much of my inspiration comes from the water and marsh.  I grew up on an island outside of Savannah, Georgia and love the ocean.

Q: What’s your favorite piece of your own work?

I have a large 48 x 48 mixed media painting that is very colorful called Ebb & Flow that I love.  I have kept it for my permanent collection.

Q: What’s an interesting fact about you or your work?3

During college, I studied abroad in Cuba and Italy.  They truly represented opposite ends of the art spectrum: Cuba was wild and free, and Italy was loaded with traditional and classic elements.  Both have had a strong influence on my work, and I appreciate the experiences and how they have informed me.

Q: What famous artist do you most admire?

I love Picasso.  He was classically trained, but created his own unique way of working.
