Habitat Greenville’s Women Build

Habitat Greenville’s Women Build

For International Women Build Week (March 8 – 15) and in recognition of International Women’s Day on March 8, CB Caine partnered with Habitat for Humanity for Greenville’s Women Build event. These events provide the opportunity for women to take a proactive step in serving their communities and helping other women. Women Build is an international organization, so with this event, we joined forces with over 300 affiliates in the United States and around the world to build stronger, safer communities.

This opportunity was first presented as an idea from our Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Task Force as a way to connect with our community further. It also aligns perfectly with our commitment to give back through the Caine Cares philanthropy program and to promote movement and exercise through our Caine Thrive wellness platform. Habitat creatively engineered a way for 40 women across Greenville to work together on one home in a safe, socially distant manner through the construction of wall systems at their respective office locations in the city.

Our team of 15 volunteers at Caine came together on the patio of our HQ at 111 Williams Street on March 9 to build two wall systems. These systems will form the base of healthy, affordable homes for a single mother in our community.

Habitat for Humanity brings families, community partners, and volunteers together to construct affordable, energy-efficient homes that help families build stability, strength and self-reliance. The team worked together to construct the two wall systems following an instructional video, and then signed the frames with messages of encouragement and love.

The following day, our team was able to meet the owner of this new home to see the impact of their efforts and learn more about the program. The new homeowner said, “Being a single mother means you have to do so much on your own…it was really amazing to see several women come together to build these walls.”

The wall systems built March 9 will come together to complete the home at the end of May, and many of Caine’s team have already volunteered to join in the final construction process. It was a wonderful experience to safely reunite after so many months apart and the team hopes to do more projects like this one in the months to come.
